Open Source Code

I use Open Source software. A lot. It makes life easier, faster, simpler and cheaper.

Being a believer in using Open Source software wherever possible (and it's not always possible, sometimes people need to spend thousands and thousands developing stuff) it's only right to give a little something back to the Open Source community.

This is my little section of the web to give back to the web.

Rant Alert ...

People should be free to use whomever they like to perform a task. They should not be limited to choosing one particular person or individual due to some proprietary, locked down code.

Code and personnel should be used on their technical merits, not some obfuscation.

This does not mean everything should be either free (as in beer) or Open Source, but the means should be there to move projects, code or development between organisations and people as required, based on technical developments, not supplier lock in. The easiest way of achieving this I have found to date is though the use of Open Source software.
